A Finish!

I finally finished the Patchwork Party Quilt. As it was Quilt as You Go the finishing was a longer process than usual. I can't say I have a use for this quilt which was a sew along project with Bonnie Quilters and I used stash to make it but I like the retro colours and the soft feel of the quilt with its Hobbs Poly wadding. I'm not sure how well it would hang though.

Patchwork Party

At our Bonnies' afternoon Fran showed her Patchwork Party quilt and cushions she'd gone on to make using the block patterns. Very impressive were the plain quilted squares, marked with a stencil and then machine quilted very effectively using a walking foot. We made the blocks quilt as you go but I wasn't aware it was possible to quilt such an elaborate pattern by machine with a walking foot. One to try. . .

I'm far behind the others with this project - blocks done and no more - but hope to catch up when the others embark on the Farmer's Wife quilt. I'll do blocks for that but not the whole quilt.

Patchwork Party

I've made the last two blocks for our Patchwork Party quilt though I have still to frame one. I have three to handquilt and also the setting triangles so still some way to go. I like the colours 1920's-30's and different from my usual grunge. These will be a nice carry-a-long project as I hand quilt. I hope the quilt-as-you-go goes well. I haven't tried it with poly batting before. The block with green star points involved LOTS of set in seams and was a bit of a struggle.
