Sewing Day

With one thing and another I've missed one or two lovely days with this group of friends who meet bi-monthly. I thought I might have to miss this one having had Covid the week before but the tenth day, feeling better and a negative test gave me the go ahead. Lots to see and share.

Little People quilt made with transatlantic swap blocks. Judi and I took part and taught a joint Guild workshop and I brought this for Judi to possibly use as part of an AGM event. The blocks take on a life of their own and prove very moreish.

A Master Quilter piece by Stephanie.

Another project from Stephanie, a really exquisite Master Quilter Christmas quilt.

Maggie's phenomenal quilts

We had a lovely day at Maggie's and got to admire her recent output of patchwork with an emphasis on hexagons. I didn't get them all just these:

The starting point for this was a Jen Kingwell myster medallion pattern
here completely reworked to make a very different design.

Very effective use of 1930's fabrics

An EPP tour de force

She is an accomplished longarm quilter and I took my Laurel Burch quilt top to be done by her. Spurned on by friends there are going too be monkeys dancing all over it, not what I expected but I am happy.

Bags of bags

Another scheme that took up some time was making bags in case one of my groups decided to have a bag tombola. I bought the printed linen some time ago from Sew and Sews Bungay, a very well stocked shop.

In the making

I made four, all different pairings of fabric patterns.

Bits and Bobs

I have not been inactive but very remiss in my blogging.

Anyway one thing that's going on is Margate Girl's (aka Zoe Murphy) Quilt Club on Tuesdays a shared learning Zoom Club. She is mainly a painter on and refurbisher of furniture but after the Oast Quilt Showcase has become enthusiastic about quilting. We all received a  beautifully packed kit.

I am making a mug rug from mine.

And at Quay Quilters Pauline showed examples of Manx patchwork, a folded log cabin whereby one's hand measurements determine the size.

And one morning we went to Faversham and checked out the Quay Quilters'   Millennium hangings in the library. Unlike many of these projects with lots of tiny images these were designed by Norma to be seen in a large space and from a distance.
