Back Home

We were all very lucky on the way home, all in aisle seats with an empty space next to us just after we had resigned ourselves to hunkering down in middle seats between strangers. However our bags did not fare so well with oneof  our suitcases delayed plus the extra shared bag with fabric and my workshop projects. There was a message on my phone to say it will arrive tomorrow. Tonight is presentation night at Quay Quilters so will report on that anon.

Meanwhile here is a picture of the three Sisters mountains which give the town its name and more from the Quilt Show.

Last day

Last day here and now our faces are pointed towards home I can't wait to get back so no more posts for a day or two while I travel and recover from the long journey. I was entrusted with buying prizes for  QQ show rosette winners so will be at the meeting on Wednesday night to hand them to our chair person to present.

We had lunch out and turned up at the Five Pines to a Quilt Walk with Tula Pink whose quilts were hanging in the trees. It was very interesting to see how she had used her various fabric collections and Angela Walters' amazing quilting.
In the evening we walked round our neighbourhood and saw a couple of other groups of quilting ladies who raised glasses or stopped to chat. We went home for weak G&T's, now all gone. We've had a great time; the other two will probably return with husbands but for me it will probably be my last time but I don't think it could get any better and I have some wonderful memories. I'm so glad that thanks to Barb and Gayle I

Up in time to see the firemen hanging staff quilts on the side of the Stitchin' Post building. I have taken about 200 photos so will be posting daily until done or fed up!

Sisters Picnic

Tonight was the Sisters picnic. We saw quilts made by the Stitchin' Post Staff, Alex Anderson who spoke very well and these I show made by the Gees Bend Quilters. Laura Wasilowski (?) closed the proceedings with a song. The assembly sang the chorus with enthusiasm.

Today I went to a lunch and Quilt Show at the Black Butte Ranch Resort. The surroundings were very beautiful.

Thursday in Sisters

I did a class with Sarah Fielke today and made letters. I took my time as I just wanted to make six then realised if I got a move on I could join then and be virtually done so the last bit of the afternoon was a frenzy but I got them all joined.

In the evening there was a super presentation from the teachers, each with a quilt then Tula Pink a born speaker (two more to come) and finally a very well managed Show & Tell then home for G&T and a weepie film. What's not to like!

Wednesday in Sisters

Jackie's "Log Jam" in solid fabrics

Lovely relaxing class with local Stitchin' Post staffer Jackie Ericson today though very busy pedal to the metal stuff, familiar to me though some of my US classmates a bit tentative. Judi and Belinda did exquisite improvisational work with Jackie Gering. In the evening it was a Ruby celebration with various speeches but also entertaining items including the Gees Bend Qulters in full flow.

My supplied bags, mainly Valori Wells, though I could have
chosen plains, batiks etc.

Tuesday in Sisters

Karla Alexender's Roundabout quilt for which there is a pattern

Today Judi and I attended another workshop with Karla Alexander today, completely different from yesterday but taught with the same clam rigour. The Roundabout technique was much more complex than yesterday's sewing but it was so satisfying to be struggling with mastering curves in the morning but as I persevered it all fell into place in the afternoon.You coud use templates but we used the Circle Savvy ruler from Creative Grids.
Home for roast chicken from the supermarket for tea and then back for Quilters' Bingo, fun and we all won something.

Classes start today

Karla Alexander's Orderly Chaos quilt in class

Today  classes began. Judi and I were in Karla Alexander's class which was very through, informative and enjoyable,  improvisation but not all at sea: we had a map or framework to work within. Our project was "Orderly Chaos" from Karla's  New_Cuts_for_New_Quilts book and Judi and I worked together with Judi's fabric for Judi's quilt so we got a lot done and as Judi is working on my quilt omorrow we don't end up with lots of UFO's.

Our travelling companion worked on  Sarah Fielke's The Burbs class and had an equally rewarding day. I'm doing "The Definition of Stitch with Sarah on Thursday and am looking forward to it.
Our classes take place in the hugely well equipped High School and lovely polite, personable students help transport our machines in super market trolleys.

Sunday

Just a quick one as it's bedtime - the frog chorus is happening outside. The deer came to visit at teatime. It was Fibr Arts stroll today which we did in two batches though one of us slept instead of going out a second time. Local businesses from the supermarket onwards display quilts.
