Motley collection

Detail
The Quilters' Guild has specialist groups and the BQSG (British
Quilt Study Group) is for those collecting, researching and
interested in old quilts. The Guild holds a collection.
Having done redwork I was interested in this one on their stand,
the Bratton Baptist Church coverlet made in 1912 and just
recently returned to the church by its owner. This
Kensington work was very popular at this time, especially
for group and fundraising projects.

There are quilting in action booths where significant makers display there wares and mount mini demonstrations.
This bright space is the home of Louise Mabbs who came to Oast in May

I started off drifting round the NEC, taking photos in a rather random fashion rather than focusing on a particular section. But if Nancy Crow can title her talk "Hodge Podge", I can surely get away with a hodge podge of pictures.

Oast member Louise Jessop had the accolade of having this portrayal of  "Venice: the treasure within"
accepted into the Fine Art Masters gallery

Here is Hether Hasthorpe manning the Modern Quilt Group
stand and gtting some sewing done on a very unmodern machine!
No power supply required.
In the background is Helen Butcher's "Rattle Quilt"; free patterns
were given out on the stand.
