Home Sewing Retreat

My husband was away for a few nights so I took the opportunity to set up a design wall in the living room and got out some "fabric fusion" blocks I lost my way with because I started sewing with no idea where I wanted to go and got confused. Arranging stuff on the design wall helped. It so happens that I have a quilt on my bed at the moment five blocks by five (60" sq.) plus a wide 9" border and this is a good size so that is the template I decided to follow. Now all I have to do is sew the blocks together. I would have liked paler fabrics to go with this fabric but could't find anything suitable. I first learnt this version of "Stack & Whack" in a wonderful class with Judy Johnson at Sisters.

I really like that arrangement. I have done stack-and-whack several times (only I mark the pieces and cut them one-by-one.) I think if the print is large, it turns out very interesting. A design wall is so handy. I wish I had the space.
