Judy in Arabia |
This week we embarked on foundation piecing, a wasteful of fabric technique but one which ensures precision points. And while sewing on a line drawn on paper or nappy liner is easy there is no such thing as a free lunch. Paper has to be removed and as this can cause stitches to rip a smaller stitch size is advisable. So if you do need to unpick it can be very tiresome. However this has brought New York Beauty type and Mariner's Compass patterns within the doable category for a lot more quilters. Papers can be drawn, traced, photocopied or layered and perforated with a unthreaded sewing machine.
