My pieces using a printed background for a blurry effect.

One of our members, Mandy Munroe, has carved out an interesting career almost by happenstance from beginnings as a hobby quilter to teaching locally and after a spell in America making quilts for fabric manufacturers and magazines. She gave a talk on Saturday and a very successful workshop on Sunday; everyone's blocks looked good.

Last morning

Tracy's vintage farm quilt inspired by Lori Holt.

Tractors play a significant part in Tracy's family life so no wonder it takes pride of place.

Maggie's churn dashes with centre transposed pinwheels.

Tracy's Pippi Long Stockings

Judi's super Elizabeth Hartman Fancy Forest animals; she paid great attention to the facial
expressions! Butterfly to follow anon.

Last full day

All good things must come to an end and now projects are taking shape and we are starting to get a little tired.
I have completed my stint of  blocks and rows or this year's Bonnie project.

Monday

The rest of the party arrived today and already there was stuff to see. I pieced 6" blocks all day  (will post some pics tomorrow) and having completed my stint got on with assembling some trick and treat bags for our sales table. Judi and Judy O had been to Janet Bevan's recycled denim jeans bag workshop and produced two lovely items while Valerie has bordered her bright stars quilt.

Hand pieced top - Joseph's Coat

Detail

Detail: the large block replaced the original centrally
placed square.

At the retreat before most of the others arrived I took the opportunity to snap my latest finish and my big hand pieced quilt top before it's tacked for hand quilting. As I brought stuff for others as well as myself my car was packed to the gunnels but it all fitted in nicely.
